With Troomi, contacts are controlled in the Parent Portal. By default, our phones have the numerical dialer pad disabled, limiting all incoming and outgoing calls to the Contact List and Emergency Contact List numbers that are controlled on the Parent Portal (although there is an option to allow the dial pad so the child can call non-contacts). Contacts can be added by inputting them into the Parent Portal. The child can also request a contact from the Dialer app in their phone. In the Parent Portal, you can select the following options for approving contacts:
To block a number on the device, you will need to add the number as a Contact, either via the Parent Portal or the Troomi phone.
Once the number is added, you will need to go to the Parent Portal > Contacts > Select the number > and then a box will pop up on the right-hand side with the contacts information. Under the Permissions section, select Block.
Note: In the highlighted area, you can see if the number is blocked if the Troomi phone initials are not next to the contact number.
Some examples where blocking a contact is useful:
- One child needs a contact on their phone, but the other child does not
- You don't want your child communicating with someone, but you also do not want to fully delete the contact from the contact list
- When the dialer pad is enabled on the phone, allowing the child to call non-contacts, the child should not be able to call the blocked contact even with access to the dial pad
