1. Transfer Files from Troomi to Another Android Device

Method 1: Bluetooth

  • Enable Bluetooth: Settings → Connections → Bluetooth.
  • Pair Devices: On the sending device, select the receiving device. When the Bluetooth pairing request appears on both devices, confirm the passkey matches. Tap Pair on the sending device and then tap Pair on the receiving device to complete the connection.
  • Send Files: Gallery/File Manager → Select files → Share → Bluetooth → [Receiving Device].
  • Accept & Verify: Accept & Verify: On the receiving device, a notification appears showing File Transfer details from the sending device, including file name and size. Tap Accept at the bottom of the screen to receive the file.

Notes:

  • Best for small files; large files may take time or fail.


Method 2: Dropbox

Upload your files from the Troomi device:

  • Install Dropbox on the Troomi device (if not already installed):
    • Log in to the Parent Portal.
    • Go to Apps.
    • Search for and select Dropbox.
    • Press Approve.
    • Ensure the child’s phone is connected to Wi-Fi, then tap Install via the Troomi App Store.
    • Verify that Dropbox is installed on the child’s phone.
  • Open the Dropbox app
  • Sign in or create a Dropbox account.
  • Open the Files tab in the app (if not visible, select it from the bottom of the screen).
  • Tap Upload.
  • Select the necessary files.
  • Tap Upload at the bottom right of the screen.
  • Once the upload is complete, the files are stored in Dropbox.

To download on a separate device:

  • Repeat the steps to open Dropbox and navigate to the Files tab.
  • Select the files you want to download.
  • Tap the three-dot menu next to the file(s) → scroll down → Save to device.
  • Choose the desired folder on the device to save the files.

2. Transfer Files from Troomi to Windows PC

Method: USB Cable

  • Connect the Troomi device to the Windows PC using a USB charging cable or USB-C to USB-C cable as long as both ends of the cable are compatible with device and computer.

  • On the Troomi device, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification center.
  • Tap USB for charging phone (or select the applicable USB option shown on the screen).
  • Under Use USB for, select Transferring files / Android Auto.
  • On the computer, open File Explorer → This PC → [Troomi Device Name].
  • To back up photos, navigate to Internal storage → DCIM, then Copy/Paste the files to the PC.
  • Check other folders as needed (such as Downloads or app-specific folders) and Copy/Paste any additional files to the PC.
  • Verify the files have been successfully backed up by opening them on the computer and having the phone disconnected.


Transfer Files from Windows PC to Troomi Device

Method: USB Cable

  • Connect the Troomi device to the Windows PC using a USB charging cable or USB-C to USB-C cable, as long as both ends of the cable are compatible with the device and the computer.

  • On the Troomi device, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification center.

  • Tap USB for charging phone (or select the applicable USB option shown on the screen).

  • Under Use USB for, select Transferring files / Android Auto.

  • On the computer, open File Explorer → This PC → [Troomi Device Name].

  • Open Internal storage and navigate to the folder where you want to place the files (for example, Downloads or DCIM).
  • From the PC, drag and drop or Copy/Paste the desired files into the selected folder on the Troomi device.
  • Wait for the transfer to complete.
  • Verify the files appear on the Troomi device by opening the appropriate app (Gallery or Files).


3. USB + MacDroid (Mac)

Method: Install MacDroid

  • Download MacDroid from one of the following:
  • Once installation is complete, open MacDroid.
  • Follow the on-screen setup instructions.
  • When prompted with “Please enable MacDroid extension (Action Required)”, select Yes to enable the extension.
  • Select a plan:
    • The Free version allows file transfers from the Android phone to the Mac.
    • A paid plan is required to transfer files from the Mac to the Android phone.
  • Click Continue.
  • When prompted to choose a connection type, select Connect via MTP.

Connect the Troomi Device to the Mac

  • Connect the Troomi device using a USB charging cable or USB-C to USB-C cable (ensure both ends are compatible).
  • When prompted on the Troomi device, tap Allow to grant file access.

Access the Troomi Device Files

  • After tapping Allow, the Troomi device will appear on the left-hand side of the MacDroid app.
  • Select the device and click Show in Finder.
  • When prompted to start syncing, click Okay.
  • Finder will open automatically to the phone’s file location.
  • Select Internal storage to view all folders on the Troomi device.

Transfer Files to the Mac

  • To back up photos, navigate to Internal storage → DCIM, then drag and drop or copy the files to the Mac.
  • Check other folders as needed (such as Downloads or app-specific folders) and transfer any additional files.
  • This process works for any folder on the device.
  • Finder defaults to Icon view, which may be difficult to manage.
    • For better visibility, switch to List view.
  • Select files:
    • Single file: click once.
    • Multiple files: hold Command and select each file.
    • All files in a folder: click the first file, hold Shift, then click the last file.
  • Drag and drop the selected files to the desktop or another Finder folder.
  • Click Confirm when prompted.

Confirm Transfer

  • Once confirmed, the files will be moved to the Mac.
  • Safely disconnect the Troomi device.
  • Open the files on the Mac to verify the transfer was successful.

4. MicroSD Card
Method: MicroSD Card

Insert the microSD Card into the Sending Device

  • Locate the microSD card slot (usually on the left side of the phone near the top, often combined with the SIM tray).

  • If the slot has a tray, use the SIM/microSD eject tool or a small paperclip to gently push into the hole and release the tray.

  • Carefully place the microSD card into the tray with the metal contacts facing down (or as indicated on the tray).

  • Gently push the tray back into the device until it clicks securely.

  • The Troomi device will recognize the microSD card, accessible via the My Files app.

  • Back Up Files to the microSD Card

    • Open the My Files app.

    • Navigate to the folder or tap Images under Categories to select the files to transfer.

    • Select files: Touch and hold a file to select it, then tap additional files as needed.

    • Tap Move or Copy at the bottom.

    • Tap microSD card under Categories, select or create a folder, then tap Move Here or Copy Here to save the files to the microSD card.

    • Safely eject the microSD card from the sending device.

  • Insert the microSD Card into the Receiving Device

    • Locate the microSD card slot on the receiving Troomi or Android device.

    • If the slot has a tray, use the SIM/microSD eject tool or a paperclip to release the tray.

    • Carefully insert the microSD card with the metal contacts facing down.

    • Gently push the tray back until it clicks.

    • The receiving device will recognize the microSD card automatically, accessible via the My Files app.

  • Transfer Files from microSD to the Receiving Device

    • Open the My Files app on the receiving device.

    • Tap SD card and navigate to the folder containing the transferred files.

    • Select files:

      • Touch and hold one file until it is selected.

      • Tap additional files if you want to move multiple items.

    • Tap Move (or Copy) at the bottom of the screen.

    • Tap Internal storage.

    • Select the destination folder (such as DCIM, Downloads, or another folder).

    • Tap Move Here or Copy Here to complete the transfer.

    • Verify the files appear in the selected internal storage folder.


Methods Not Supported on Troomi Devices

The following methods are not available on Troomi devices and should not be used for file transfers:

  • Wi-Fi Direct
  • Nearby Devices
  • Samsung Smart Switch Mobile
