Summary

This article is based on how to insert and use a MicroSD card with Mac operating system. This helps the customer when they have an MicroSD card, and wants to transfer files from the phone to other phone or Mac computer. 

How to insert MicroSD card


Things you'll need:

  • Your phone
  • The SIM tool that came in the box. (If you don't have this, a small paperclip will also work)



  • Start by turning your phone off and removing the case.
  • Locate the SIM card tray on the left edge of your phone.



  • Slowly insert the SIM tool (or paper clip) into the small hole below the tray until it ejects and then slide the tray out.




A12

    For the A12, there will be multiple slots within the sim card tray. Insert the MicroSD card on the left slot of the tray.




A13

    The A13 sim card tray has two slots. Insert the MicroSD card on the left slot of the tray.




A14

    The A14 sim card tray has two slots like the A13 but doesn’t have the slot that is blocked. Insert the MicroSD card on the left slot of the tray





XCOVER

    For the XCover Pro, the MicroSD Card slides into place on top of the SIM Card; it will click into place.


   


SD Adapter

Androids phone uses MicroSD cards and not regular SD card. If you plan on transfer files from the MicroSD to computer some computer doesn't have the MicroSD slot. However there should be a regular SD slot where the SD adapter comes in handy. Also there are Adapter out there if your computers doesn't have either an SD or MicroSD slot.




Change locations on where files goes on the Android phone

Note: The following software steps are the same for all four versions of the phone from this point on.


After inserting the MicroSD card, open up the Camera app, and it will prompt you to change the location if you want the photos to automatically transfer to the MicroSD card.



If you don’t want photos to automatically save on the MicroSD card within the camera app click on the setting icon on the top left corner.



Scroll down and click on Storage Location.


You can click on where you want the pictures to automatically be saved to.


Transfer files to another locations

Files can be moved from any location within the phone to the MicroSD card and vice versa.


  • On the phone go to My Files app
  • Click on internal storage
  • Go to the locations you want to move data from internal storage to the MicroSD card
  • Press & hold the file to select it.
    • After you press & hold the first picture, you can tap on other files if you want to move multi files at once.
    • At the top left you will see an All button to select all files within that folder
  • Then select Move at the bottom-left.


  • You can use the Back arrow at the top-left to navigate backward.
  • While you’re navigating, you’ll have a bar along the bottom with an option to “Move Here”

  • Simply navigate back to the landing screen for My Files and select the MicroSD Card:
  • Navigated to the folder that you want to move the file to.
  • Once you are at the location simply press Move Here at the bottom, and the file will be moved.



Move files to a computer

Files can be moved freely between computers and the MicroSD Card. When the phone is connected to a computer then files can be dragged and dropped from card to device, and vice versa.


Before you start the process on moving files be sure that the Android version is 3.0 or later, and make sure the Mac OS version is 10.5 or higher.

Android 3.0 release on 2011. All Troomi phones have Android 3.0 and later.




Transfer file through Mac

  • You can open Android file transfer through the browser.

  • Or you can open Android File Transfer in your downloaded page in Find.
  • Click on File at the top and then click on Find.
  • Click on drag Android file transfer to the Application folder.

  • Open up find.
  • Go to Applications and double click on Android File Transfer. 

  • Plug in the Android phone to the Mac and click on Allow on your Android phone.

  • You should get this screen when the Android phone connects to the Mac computer.

  • Note: if you get this error message you need to unplug the Android phone, double click on Android File Transfer app again, and plug the phone back into the computer.

  • Click on SD card at the top of Android file.

  • You do need to open up Find. Click on File and select Find.
  • Have both files side by side.
    • Reason for having both windows open is due to Android File Transfer doesn't have the ability to copy & paste from Android to Mac.
  • Go to the location you want to transfer files to the Mac computer.
  • Select the files you want to Transfer.
    • If you are selecting one file you just need to click on the file just once
    • If you want to select multiple files hold Command and then select all the files you want to transfer.
    • If you want to select all files click on the first file, click and hold shift, and click on the last file.

  • Once you select the files drag and drop the files you want on the Mac computer


Transfer file with SD adapter (Mac)

  • Plug in the MicroSD card into the Mac.
    • If you don't have an MicroSD slot you might have a SD slot. You will need to have a SD Adapter to do so.
  • Once you insert the MicroSD or SD Adapter open up Find.
  • On the Left hand side click on Untitled

  • Click on the location where the files you want to move onto the Mac.

  • Select the files you want to Transfer.
    • If you are selecting one file you just need to click on the file just once
    • If you want to select multiple files hold Command and then select all the files you want to transfer.
    • If you want to select all files click on the first file, click and hold shift, and click on the last file.
  • Once files are select click and hold control and click on one of the files you selected.
  • Click on Copy

  • Go to the location on the Mac you want the files to be.
  • Within the folder you selected click and hold control, and click on Paste.
