If you are having issues with apps crashing or closing while you are trying to use our Troomi phones, we have found that sometimes apps haven’t completed the install process and will try to continually install until completed successfully. This will interrupt anything else happening on the phone.

Here are some quick troubleshooting steps you can try to solve the issue:
  • First, make sure your phone is connected to wifi. Troomi has it where you can only download apps when the phone is only on wifi.
    • If you have started the download process for an app while on wifi and then disconnect from wifi, you'll need to connect back to wifi and may need to uninstall and reinstall the app again.

  • If you are having messages continually popping up on the phone indicating an app is trying to install and you know which app is causing the issue. Then you need to go to the Parent Portal, uninstall it, and reinstall it.

  • Next, check if your KidSmart App Assistant has the correct permissions. Go into Settings in the Troomi phone > Scroll down and click on Apps > Top right corner click on the 3 vertical dots > Select Special access > Click on Install unknown apps > Enable KidSmart App Assistant.

  • Then check if there are any apps in the KidSmart App Assistant that have not completed their installation process. Open the KidSmart App Assistant on the phone. If apps are listed, complete their installation. Otherwise uninstall them from the Parent Portal and then reinstall the apps.

  • Next, go into the My Files app > Downloads > and check if there are any apk or xapk files there. If so, delete those files by long pressing on the file name > Click on the All option at the top left corner if you have more than one file > choose Delete all on the navigation bar on the bottom right > choose Move to Trash. Repeat these same steps for the Installation Files folder. Those apps may begin installing again.

  • Check the KidSmart App Assistant again to complete any necessary downloads
